So you’re thinking about taking the plunge and becoming a parent! Congratulations. You have made one of the biggest decisions in your life and I’m sure you are super excited about it! This is a huge time commitment, but also such an amazing thing to go through as well. So how much does it cost? Well, let’s break it down:
Diapers are a necessity, and you’re going to spend a lot of money on them. If you have time, we recommend buying diapers in bulk (especially if you’re planning on having more than one child). The best way to go about this is by purchasing a subscription from Boxed.com or Amazon Family. These services will give you access to the most popular brands of diapers at much lower prices than what they usually sell for in stores—and there’s no need to worry about running out!
While it may seem like an easy decision when your newborn is brand-new and doesn’t weigh much more than their diaper, as they grow bigger this becomes harder and harder to decide which diapers work best for them (and their parents). There are lots of options available today: cloth diapers are reusable but require washing every few days or so; disposable ones come in both biodegradable varieties as well as traditional styles; natural fibers such as cotton or hemp feel good against sensitive skin but are less durable over long periods of time compared with synthetics like polyester blends; finally there are hybrid products combining both types into one design which allows parents flexibility depending upon their lifestyle needs at any given moment during day-to-day life routines such as feeding time schedules between changing sessions away from home vs., staying at home doing housework chores without having child supervision needed during those times when mommy needs help getting things done around housekeeping duties being performed right then while taking care each other’s responsibilities off duty hours together caring only themselves instead children too busy eating food making sure everyone gets proper nutrition intake levels met before starting back taking care yourself again once done eating lunch mealtime snack foods meals breakfast dinner supper snacks lunchtime snacks dinner
Wipes are a necessity when you have a baby. However, they can be expensive if you buy them individually. The best way to save money on wipes is to buy them in bulk at Sam’s Club or Target. However, Walmart also has great deals on baby wipes and most stores carry the brand Luvs that is more affordable than other brands like Pampers and Huggies.
If you get them in bulk at one of these stores, it’s worth the extra trip if you’re going shopping anyway!
Baby wash (we use Aveeno Baby wash)
Baby wash is one of the most important items for your baby’s health and wellness. There are many brands to choose from, but we recommend using Aveeno Baby Wash. It can be used on your baby’s face, body, and hair without causing irritation. It contains oatmeal extract which helps keep the skin soft and moisturized during the bath time experience. Other benefits include: hypoallergenic formula that won’t irritate eyes; long-lasting fragrance that smells great; patented MVE technology that helps lock in moisture for 24 hours after bathing; dermatologically tested ingredients (including colloidal oatmeal) so it’s gentle on delicate skin; available at Walmart or Target stores nationwide!
Lotion (we use Vaseline)
In this section, we will talk about lotion. It’s important to use a lotion that is hypoallergenic, fragrance free, petroleum based and not scented. The reason for this is because babies can develop skin rashes from using certain products. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding your baby then it is especially important that you choose hypoallergenic products for your child.
Baby powder is a must-have for any newborn’s diaper bag. It can be used to keep your baby dry and prevent rashes, as well as other areas on their body. Baby powder can be applied to the diaper area, underarms, and feet to help absorb moisture and prevent chafing. If you are not going to use it on the diaper area (which we do not recommend), it can also be used as a talcum powder substitute by sprinkling some on your baby’s feet before putting socks on them or putting them in shoes.
Baby powders are also great for helping with cradle cap, which is when thick, scaly patches form on babies’ scalps due to age-related hormones that cause excess oil production in their skin glands along with dead skin cells blocking pores of hair follicles causing irritation and inflammation resulting in flaking off of scales from those areas where they accumulate together forming crusty patches around those affected parts of their scalp.”
Shampoo (we use Aveeno Baby)
Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion is the only body wash we’ve ever used on our son, and we love it. It smells great, cleans well, and doesn’t irritate his sensitive skin. Plus it comes in a pump bottle that makes it super easy to dispense (we were using this as soon as he was born). As far as cost goes, $13 for 24 ounces isn’t cheap but compared to other baby products we have used this seems like a pretty good deal. We buy it at Target where you can get some coupons printed from their website or a mobile app that I highly recommend downloading if you shop there often!
We use about 2 full bottles per month which isn’t too bad considering how much he sweats these days—at least when they’re running around outside playing with friends or participating in sports activities!
Formular – whether you breastfeed or need to supplement your baby with formula, this is an added cost. This also comes into play for when you are going back to work. There are great choices that are around $25 at Walmart. The Enfamil brand we like is “Enfamil Gentlease”. You can get a smaller amount of it just in case your baby won’t like the taste of it. If they don’t, then back to the drawing board! My daughter is almost 8 months now and she has been on Enfamil Gentlease since birth. We have never had any issues with her tolerating it or being fussy while drinking it. I hope this helps! If you choose to breastfeed then you will also need a few other items, but these will not take as much room in your budget as formula would.
Swaddle blankets (these come in handy!! I didn’t know about these until my daughter was born, but they do keep them nice and snug)

- Receiving blankets (I used these for swaddling as well).
If you are having a boy or girl, what color outfit should you dress your baby in? If it’s a girl and if you like the idea of dressing her up to match mommy, then choose light blue or pink. If it’s a boy and you want him to look like daddy when he grows up, go with grey pants and a light blue shirt.
Receiving blankets (I recommend getting a few packages because your baby will spit up and poop on them)
Receiving blankets are a must-have if you’re having a baby. You will use them for everything. They can be used to keep your baby warm, comfortable and safe during every season of their life. They are also used as burp cloths and changing pads, as well as being great for swaddling. Receiving blankets are soft and cuddly which makes them perfect for cuddling with your newborn!
If you don’t want to buy receiving blankets right away I recommend getting some cheap dollar store ones that you can use until the real deal arrives!
