Devotion For Baby Shower

God’s gift of babies, a devotional by Allison Griest

Devotion title: God’s gift of babies

Babies are a gift from God. By giving us the ability to conceive, carry, and give birth to children, He has blessed us with something that can’t be bought in a store or created by man. Babies are gifts for both mothers and fathers—they give us opportunities to grow in love, patience, strength and faith.

The Bible says that children are a blessing from the Lord ( Psalm 127:3). However you choose to view this blessing in your life—as an opportunity for self-discovery or as an expression of your deepest desires—it’s important to remember that babies come with more than just blessings; they also come with responsibilities.

As parents we have been given the privilege and responsibility of raising our children into adults who will go forth into their own lives as productive individuals who honor God through their actions. We need not worry about how our children will turn out because God has promised them His protection throughout their lives ( Deuteronomy 31:8).

Text to use for devotion reading: Psalm 127

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green; In the year of drought it shows itself grateful to God and continues firm as long as it lives.” Psalm 1:3-7

Babies are a gift from God, they are His blessing to us! We get to be parents because we chose each other and love each other enough to bring new life into our world! But let’s remember that even though this baby isn’t ours yet… it’s still God’s gift! It’s amazing how much joy we can experience with something so small and fragile due to this fact alone… especially when we think about what God has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ who suffered for our sins on Calvary Hill during that three-hour time period between noon (when He died) until 3 PM (when He was resurrected).

Opening comments

Today we are talking about baby showers.

This is a devotion, and it’s designed to help you have a more thoughtful, meaningful experience as you prepare for your baby’s arrival!

A devotion is an intimate time where you focus on your thoughts and feelings, while being guided by Scripture. You might think of this as an extended prayer or journaling session; it could also be like having a conversation with God (or yourself). You can use this devotional guide however fits best into your life right now.

I love looking at newborn babies. Their tiny fingers and toes, their soft skin, their sweet little faces. When they are sleeping, they look so peaceful.

Babies are precious! I love looking at newborn babies. Their tiny fingers and toes, their soft skin, their sweet little faces. When they are sleeping, they look so peaceful.

In the Bible, God’s Word tells us that babies are gifts from Him. They are a blessing to our families when we have them in our homes. Babies are also a miracle—something wonderful that God has created within us!

So this week as you pray for each other during your baby showers and as you prepare for the arrival of your new baby in September or October next year (or whenever), remember what an amazing gift God has given us through His creation of children.

I also love when a mom talks about holding that baby in the delivery room right after she was born. It’s an incredible experience for a mom, to hold her child for the first time and know that this child is part of her and that she is responsible for taking care of that baby from now on. That’s the moment when a mom knows just how much she loves that child. That’s the moment when a mom will do anything to protect and nourish that child. Of course, it’s hard work, but any mother will tell you it’s worth it because of the pure joy and love that she has discovered in being a mom.

Moms are amazing! A mother’s love is unconditional – no matter what happens or how bad things get she will always be there for her children no matter what!

Today we honor this new mother who is expecting her newest addition very soon. We celebrate with her today but we also want to take some time to focus on what this new baby means to God. And in doing so, we want to lift up some very important truths about God’s relationship with all children and how they come into this world with God’s mark upon them from the very beginning.

A child is a gift to its parents, but above all it is a gift from God! A child is not an accident or a mistake that needs fixing or correcting; rather, he/she is made specifically for each parent by their Creator (Psalm 139:13-16). Children are never out of place! They are always special—always wanted—always loved—always known and cherished by their Creator before they ever enter this world physically (Genesis 5:1-2).

Conclusion
